The search for a permanent County Manager continues after two application periods have come and gone. In December, the Habersham County Commission appointed Finance Director Tim Sims as the interim county manager. He began fulfilling those duties on December 28, the day after former county manager Alicia Vaughn’s departure on December 27.
The commission reposted the county manager position on December 26 and it remained open to receive applications through January 9. According to Human Resource Director Ann Cain, that second reposting netted 28 new applications.
The first application period opened on September 23 and closed October 14. That initial search resulted in 31 applications.
The two application periods bring the total number of applicants to 59.
The commission has begun reviewing all of the applications that have been received. “They have whittled both postings down some but still have quite a few they are considering,” Cain said in an email. “We have conducted video interviews as a first step to assist in narrowing down the candidates from both postings.”
She tells Now Habersham that the commissioners have yet to start in-person interviews.
