Man dead, woman injured after domestic disturbance

A 27-year-old man is dead and a woman injured after a reported domestic disturbance on Historic Homer Highway in Banks County Friday, Feb. 7, according to the Banks County Sheriff’s Office.

Upon arrival at the residence, deputies discovered a female victim with injuries to her head as emergency medical care was immediately administered.

While the victim was treated for injuries, deputies began a search for alleged suspect Edward Countryman, 27, of Homer.

Authorities say deputies later located Countryman in a nearby area, where he was unresponsive due to a self-inflicted injury.

Countryman was then transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The female victim was also transported to a medical facility for further care. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident is ongoing, according to police.
