Over the course of two days, initiatives by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies to counter drug trafficking led to the arrests of more than a dozen individuals on a slew of charges in Stephens County, according to the sheriff’s office.
Earlier this week, multiple agencies partnered for “Operation Clean Sweep” – a two-day initiative aimed at disrupting the flow of drugs in Stephens County.
The operation, which resulted in several arrests, involved a coordinated effort between the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office, Toccoa Police Department, Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), GBI’s Metro Gang Task Force, Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO), the FBI’s North Georgia Major Offenders Task Force, Georgia Department of Community Supervision, and the Georgia State Patrol.
Day One: Warrant services and searches
On Tuesday, Jan. 28, operations focused on executing Fourth Amendment waiver searches and conducting “knock and talk” operations in Stephens County. Thirteen individuals were arrested for various offenses related to probation violations and drug possession:
- Charlene McGraw, Alisa Belladonna, Oscar Burton, and Larry Parsons – felony probation violation
- Brianna Mandrona – felony arrest order
- Nicholas Steele – felony probation violation, possession of marijuana
- Ty’jalane Mayfield and Tyrique Mayfield – felony probation violation, possession of methamphetamine
- John J. Johnson – parole violation, possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute
- Rachel Johnson – possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute
- Jarod Pulliam – possession of schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute
- Quentin Reed – parole violation, possession of schedule I controlled substance with intent, possession of schedule IV controlled substances, possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
- Brittany Prather – Two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of schedule I controlled substance with intent, possession of schedule IV controlled substance, possession of marijuana
Day Two: Traffic enforcement
On the second day – Thursday, Jan. 30, officers conducted 105 traffic stops, issued 34 citations, gave 70 warnings and deployed K-9 units four times. Six individuals were arrested for various traffic-related offenses:
- Ontorio Tate – possession of schedule II controlled substance, possession with intent to distribute
- Victor Nicely – DUI, failure to maintain lane
- Charles Richie – DUI, possession of marijuana, improper turn/change lane
- Fitzroy Tillmutt – Expired/No driver’s License, failure to obey stop sign, tag light requirement
- Stephen Pruitt – Illegal possession of a controlled substance, failure to maintain insurance, suspended registration, improper license display, youth restraint not used properly, defective tires
- Michael Isbell – Warrant in Habersham County
