Gainesville Mayor Sam Couvillon will take on U.S. Rep. Andrew Clyde, R-Athens, in the 2026 Republican primary race for the Ninth Congressional District seat.
Couvillon’s political experience spans more than a decade. He has served as Gainesville’s mayor since 2022, and he was first elected to the Gainesville City Council in 2013.
On Thursday, Couvillon said inquiries and additional details regarding his candidacy should be directed his spokesperson, Cody Hall.
Now Habersham has reached out to Hall by phone.
