Mountain Judicial Circuit Judge Russell Smith has died, according to the Rabun County Coroner’s Office.
Smith was found dead at his residence in Rabun County. The coroner’s office was notified of his death Tuesday morning. A cause of death has not yet been determined, according to Rabun County Coroner Sam Beck.
“I can confirm Mr. Smith did pass away and he is at the coroner’s office,” Beck said Tuesday afternoon. “He is going to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. Everything is still under investigation at this point.”
