The collaboration between Hall County Schools and Brenau University will create a comprehensive approach to addressing the mental health needs of our community. The Lynn J. Darby School of Psychology and Adolescent Counseling of Brenau University, Hall County School District, and the Howard E. Ivester Early College introduce the “Ivester House”.
Support for families
The Ivester House is dedicated to supporting the social and emotional well-being of students and families in the community. Their mission focuses on providing psychoeducational, therapy, and assessment services while working to reduce barriers and increase accessibility for students, families, teachers, and staff.
Joey Millwood, Hall County Schools Director of Student Services, shared, “As the mental and emotional well-being of our students becomes an increasingly important priority, this partnership presents a tremendous opportunity to offer crucial support.”
Millwood explained it ensures that students and their families have access to the resources and care they need. “Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of our students, helping them succeed and build resilience in the face of life’s challenges. We are excited about the positive impact this partnership will have on our schools, students, and community,” he added.
Appointments available
Starting in February 2025, this partnership will offer free or sliding-scale mental and emotional health counseling to all students and families within the Hall County School System, Brenau University, and the Chicopee Village community.
