After several dry winters, Georgians are preparing for their second snowfall of the year. Much of the state is under a Winter Storm Watch Tuesday morning, Jan. 21, through Wednesday, Jan. 22.
The forecast calls for snow this week, with periods of moderate to heavy snowfall. Total snow accumulations between 1 and 3 inches are possible.
Light sleet and freezing rain will be possible in portions of east central Georgia late Tuesday night. Ice accumulations of less than 0.1 inch are expected.
Counties currently included in the Winter Storm Watch include Baldwin, Banks, Barrow, Bibb, Bleckley, Butts, Carroll, Chattahoochee, Clarke, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, Crawford, Crisp, DeKalb, Dodge, Dooly, Douglas, Emanuel, Fayette, Forsyth, Glascock, Greene, Gwinnett, Hall, Hancock, Harris, Heard, Henry, Houston, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Johnson, Jones, Lamar, Laurens, Macon, Madison, Marion, Meriwether, Monroe, Morgan, Muscogee, Newton, North Fulton, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Paulding, Peach, Pike, Pulaski, Putnam, Rockdale, Schley, South Fulton, Spalding, Stewart, Sumter, Talbot, Taliaferro, Taylor, Telfair, Treutlen, Troup, Twiggs, Upson, Walton, Warren, Washington, Webster, Wheeler, Wilcox, Wilkes, Wilkinson, and Toombs.
