Banks County FD responds to fire at Homer residence

Banks County Fire and Emergency Services extinguished a structure fire on the back porch of a single-family residence in the 494 block of Caudell Road in Homer.

According to Banks County Fire Chief Steve Nichols, firefighters responded to the blaze at 1:54 p.m. on January 15. They arrived to find the fire on the back of the residence. The fire was contained to its area of origin and caused minor damage to the home. It was determined the fire originated from a heating device for animals on the back porch.

No one was home when the fire started. There were no reports of any injuries. Fire department personnel cleared the scene at 2:24 p.m.
