Grass fires sweep toward Baldwin Monday

Grass fires believed to have started on the Banks County side of Baldwin continued to burn just after 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, according to officials

Authorities indicated the fires have caused various traffic issues in the area.

“There are multiple grass fires along the sides of Highway 441 between Highway 105 and Willingham Avenue,” a release by Baldwin’s Police Department states. “Northbound traffic is diverted to Otis Brown Road. Please seek alternate routes as possible.”

Baldwin Police Chief Chris Jones said the cause of the fires are unclear at this time.
