The Hall County School District is expanding its Early College Program with the establishment of a new North Campus, thanks to a generous $1 million donation from The Melvin Douglas and Victoria Kay Ivester Foundation. The new campus will be located at the former White Sulphur Elementary School facility on Old Cornelia Highway.
The expansion is driven by the need for increased capacity at the current Early College campus on Atlanta Highway. The new North Campus will specifically serve high school students in the northern part of the district attending Chestatee, North Hall, and East Hall High schools. This will offer them greater access to dual enrollment courses closer to home, according to school officials.
“It is truly inspiring to consider that 45 percent of students at Ivester Early College are first-generation participants in college courses,” said Hall County School Superintendent Will Schofield. “This program is an incredible opportunity for students to take college-level courses while receiving the necessary support to succeed. We are deeply grateful to Doug and Kay Ivester, the Ivester family, and our partners—the University of North Georgia, Lanier Technical College, and Brenau University—for making these life-changing opportunities possible.”
Lynn Darby, President of the Ivester Foundation, stated, “The Ivester Foundation has been a longtime supporter of the Howard E. Ivester Early College. We have recognized for some time that the Ivester Early College needed increased capacity to serve the deserving students of Hall County. The expansion to a North Campus is a great solution and one that we whole heartedly support.”
Hall County School District anticipates that Ivester Early College North will welcome students in the fall of the upcoming academic year.
