Beware of scammers. That’s the word from Habersham Electric Membership Corporation in Clarkesville.
The company recently issued a press release warning that some Habersham EMC members have received bogus telephone calls stating their power would be disconnected immediately unless they provided a credit card number for payment.
“For verification purposes, it is always best for members to hang up at once and call Habersham EMC to confirm their account status,” cautions Susan Baker, Director of Member Services. “People should never give out financial information during unsolicited phone calls.”
