Chilly, breezy Thanksgiving Day forecast

Thanksgiving Day has arrived and chilly, breezy conditions are expected.

Scattered showers will be possible through 8-9 a.m. as a cold front pushes through the region. Behind this front, skies will slowly clear through the afternoon but winds will increase. Northwest winds at 15-20 m.p.h. are expected through around 4-6 p.m. before they begin to die down a bit to only 10-15 m.p.h.

Temperatures will be the big story with highs occurring during the mid-morning. For those on the north side of the mountains around Blairsville and Hiawassee, temperatures will fall into the mid/upper-40s by mid afternoon. The mountains will slow down the progress and for those on the southeastern side of the region the temperature drop will be a bit slower only reaching around 50 by sunset.

Temperatures will continue to plummet overnight with lows around freezing region-wide.

This is just the beginning of a big cold outbreak that will last into early next week.

Have a great Thanksgiving Day!
