Nancy Lehman, a Baldwin resident with more than a decade of experience working in the private sector, was sworn into the city’s Post 2 council seat during a regular meeting Tuesday, Nov. 12.
Between Habersham and Banks counties, Lehman defeated candidate Mark Mullinax in the Nov. 5 election. Lehman earned 55.24% (569 votes) to Mullinax’s 44.76% (461 votes) to win the seat.
“I wouldn’t be here without the incredible support of the people who voted for me,” Lehman said after the meeting Tuesday. “What an honor it is to have been elected to Baldwin City Council. I’m anxious to learn the ins and outs of being a council member, and I look forward to working with the mayor, members of council, and city personnel.”
Lehman, who has lived in Baldwin for nearly 20 years, has been married to her husband, Ted, for 27 years. Together, they have three children and three (soon-to-be four) grandchildren.
Lehman’s term will last 3 years and 2 months as she fills a seat vacated by former councilman Joseph Satterfield, who resigned last summer.
