The Big Red Apple festival may have ended early Saturday because of the rain but at least things got off on the right foot. Literally. A good sized crowd turned out in downtown Cornelia on October 10 to Walk A Mile In Her Shoes.
Walk A Mile is an annual event sponsored by Circle of Hope to raise awareness of domestic violence.

Circle of Hope Executive Director Suzanne Dow says more than 100 people participated in this year’s walk. “We are thankful that so many women, youth and men joined our agency in taking a stand against domestic violence by walking in heels,” Dow says. “Their participation demonstrates they are courageous partners in making our community a safer place.”
Circle of Hope provides shelter and resources for domestic abuse victims in Habersham, Stephens and White Counties. If you are a victim, or know someone who is, contact Circle of Hope at 706-776-3406 or dial their 24-Hour Local Hotline at 706-776-4673 (HOPE).
