So far, so good for coach Will Anglin in his tenure as the Lady Tigers coach. With an Elite 8 and Sweet 16, he once again has some star power to work with in hopes of Dawson peaking at the right time in March.
PRESEASON INFO
2023-24 Record: 18-12; Sweet 16; #4 Rank
Head Coach: Will Anglin (3rd Season)
Returning Starters: 2
Key Departures: Kindra Coker, Morgan Chester, Abby Slaton, Heather Burt, Anna Ayers, Jaci Wilson
Key Players: Eva Bishop, Maddie Siuta, Rielyn Talley, Kinslee Negley, Ramsey Smith, Addison Smith, Andee Fowler, Ava Roberson
Offense: “We want to play inside-out,” says Anglin. “Our bigs must be a focal point, and our guards will make shots if left open. We will also look to turn defense into offense to create easy scoring opportunities.”
Strengths: “We will have depth and should be able to pressure teams,” adds Anglin. “We have a lot of young players who have waited patiently for their turn. We will lean on the experience of Maddie Siuta and Eva Bishop. They have played significant minutes for us over the past two years. This is the scrappiest group that I have coached yet.”
Biggest Challenges: “Our biggest challenge will be experience,” he states. “We lost 6 seniors who contributed in a big way. Our younger kids are very talented, but they must grow up fast. Another challenge will be taking care of the basketball regularly.”
“We expect to compete at a high level on a nightly basis,” adds Anglin. “Region 6-AAA is loaded with top-ten talent, and I hope our kids accept that challenge and improve each game. We want to be a team that others don’t want to play late in the year.”
