Firefighters in White County kept a potentially devastating mobile home kitchen fire from spreading.

The fire was contained “Thanks to the quick actions of White County 911 and the rapid response of White County fire personnel,” says White County Public Information Officer Bryce Barrett.

According to Barrett, a passerby called 911 Friday afternoon, Nov. 1, to report smoke coming from inside a residence in the 200 block of Mossy Acres Drive in Cleveland.

County fire, EMS, and Emergency Management Agency personnel responded to the scene, along with automatic aid from the Cleveland Fire Department.

The first arriving units confirmed there were no residents inside the home. They quickly knocked down the flames and contained the fire to the kitchen.

White County EMS evaluated two people at the scene, but no one had to be taken to the hospital, says Barrett.

Fire personnel remained on the scene for several hours, ventilating and clearing smoke from the home and extinguishing hotspots to prevent the fire from reigniting.
