Baldwin will hold final millage rate hearing Monday

The Baldwin City Council will hold its third and final millage rate hearing during Monday’s council meeting on October 28.

Baldwin property owners are faced with a proposed .689 mill millage rate increase for 2024. The new millage rate will increase from 8.481 mills in 2023 to 9.170 mills for 2024. The new millage rate will increase property tax revenues for the Habersham County side by 16.53%. The Banks County side will see an increase of 53.15%.

After the public hearing, the council is expected to take action on the proposed millage rate.

Other business

The city council will hold its second reading of the Water Sewer Use ordinance that has been updated. The new ordinance is a culmination of the previous ordinance and its numerous amendments over the years.

The Baldwin City Council will meet for its regular meeting on Monday, October 28, at 6:30 p.m. in the Baldwin Municipal Courtroom located at 155 Willingham Avenue in Baldwin.
