LaGRANGE, Ga. – The Piedmont volleyball team rallied for a come-from-behind five-set victory over LaGrange College on Saturday, securing a split in their final CCS Tri-Match of the season. Piedmont lost its first match of the day to Covenant 3-0 but came back to defeat LaGrange 3-2.
The win over LaGrange marks the series sweep for the Lions. After trailing 2-1 in the match, Piedmont fought back to win the fourth set 25-16, forcing a decisive fifth set. Down 11-8, the Lions scored six consecutive points to take a 14-11 lead and ultimately clinched the match on a kill by freshman Mary Brit Tallevast.
Tallevast finished the match with 15 kills, while junior Katie Hubbard recorded a career-high 17 kills for the Lions. Senior setter Vanessa Manzo led the team with 21 assists.

Piedmont lost to Covenant in three straight sets to start the day. Despite a close first set that saw the Lions trail 23-19 before Covenant scored two of the final three points, the Scots took control of the match, winning the second and third sets 25-13 and 25-17, respectively.
The Lions, now 5-16 overall and 5-8 in CCS play, will head to Agnes Scott for a CCS road match this Wednesday, October 30 at 7 p.m.
