Indians run to 4th-place finish, marking best finish in school history

For the first time in a quarter-century, Tallulah Falls’ boys cross country team finished inside the top-5 at state. On Saturday morning in Macon, the Indians ran to a 4th-place finish at the GIAA 3A State Championship.

Sophomore Teagan Penland was 9th individually, carding a 17:47 time. Senior Timothy Beck (18:31) was 16th. Sophomore Ryan Anderson (19:37; 40th) and freshman Avery Chatman (19:44; 43rd) rounded out the top-4 for TFS.

Sophomore Oier Linera Mallea was 59th (20:35) and senior Jedd Thomas (21:09) raced to a 75th-place finish.

The last time TFS was in the top-5 came in 1990, and that 5th-place run was a previous program mark. The Indians now bested that performance, finishing 4th overall in the state.
