Ceremonial scissors fail at WCHM ribbon cutting

As everyone gathered at the sign in front of the station, Cole Cleiman, co-owner and talk show host of WCHM, attempted to cut the ribbon using the oversized scissors. To his dismay, it wouldn’t budge. He brought laughter as he pulled out his pocket knife and split the red ribbon in half. If you are a fan of the morning show, you know that for Cole and co-host Darrell Everidge, the moment seemed quite fitting.

Ribbon-cutting ceremonies are meant to bring the community together to celebrate the opening of something new. For owners Catherine and Cole Cleiman, it is exactly what they had intended when they purchased the radio station months ago – to be the station that is for everyone.

“It is a really special day to have people come out to celebrate our new beginning and get together over a few hors d’oeuvre and have a ribbon cutting,” Catherine said. “We are having a really great time and love how people are stopping in and just enjoying being on the radio.”

Many fans of ‘The Mountain Morning Show’ gathered to share in the moment.

Ellie Van Doornum, Habersham Chamber of Commerce Director, welcomed the Cleimans and talked about the importance of the Chamber in the community.

She has become a regular on the show on Tuesday mornings, sharing in the laughter and joining in with Darrell and his love of 80s music. Cole and Darrell exchange hilarious banter and give everyone who tunes in to the early morning talk show a reason to start the day on the bright side of the bed.

“We’ve started strong. One of the main things that we wanted was for people to feel a sense of community, and I think we’ve achieved that right off the bat. We are two months in and so many people are reaching out and talking to us daily. It fills my heart,” Cole expressed.

The Mountain Morning Show starts at 7 a.m. on Mondays through Fridays on WCHM 94.3. If you haven’t listened yet, there is a fair warning: it can become addictive – proceed with caution.
