Seven Hospitalized, Charges Filed in Demorest Wrecks

A Demorest woman is charged with running a traffic light and a Clarkesville man faces DUI charges following a multi-car pileup on GA 365 in Demorest. The accident happened around 8:30pm Saturday at the intersection of 365 and Demorest-Mt. Airy Highway.

Authorities say 32-year old Christine Xaykosy and her two children were traveling west on Demorest-Mt. Airy Hwy. in a Toyota 4 Runner when Xaykosy ran a traffic light and pulled into the path of an oncoming Ford Edge SUV traveling north on GA 365. After impact, the SUV traveled across the highway, coming to rest  in the southbound turn lane. Xaykosy’s vehicle rotated and stalled in both northbound lanes.

A Ford Explorer traveling north on GA 365 then struck the 4 Runner.

Trooper 1st Class Aaron Church says Xaykosy suffered internal injuries. She was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center along with her 12-year old daughter Jadelyn Xaykosy and 3-year old son Mark Phongsavanh. According to Church, both children suffered minor injuries.

The driver of the Explorer, 39-year old Christopher Davidson of Clarkesville, suffered internal injuries. His passenger, 36-year old Tiffany Davidson of Clarkesville, suffered minor injuries. They were also taken to NGMC for treatment.

The two people in the Ford Edge SUV — 38-year old James Arch and 60-year old Paula Holloway, both of Cherokee, NC — suffered minor injuries and were taken to Habersham Medical Center.

TFC Church says Christine Xaykosy is charged with failure to obey a traffic control device. Christopher Davidson is charged with DUI.
