One person was transported to the hospital Friday, Oct. 18, after a fire at a Fieldale feed mill in Baldwin.

Banks County Fire and EMS responded to a call of a fire on the third floor of the mill just after 5:25 p.m. One of the two people evacuated from the building was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation, according to Banks County Fire Battalion Chief Scottie Mathis.

“Once we got crews up there, we found out it was a motor that had caught on fire,” Mathis said. “We kept it contained to that motor. It filled the third and fourth floor up with smoke.”
