Baldwin to hold second millage rate public hearing Tuesday

The Baldwin city council will hold its second millage rate public hearing during its regular meeting on Tuesday, October 15. The council held the first public hearing for the proposed millage rate increase during its work session on Tuesday, October 8.

Millage rate increase

The city is considering a millage rate increase of .689 mill increase. During the budget process, it was recommended that the millage rate increase by 1.1 mills. After a review of budget documents, the city reduced the increase.

After the millage rate public hearing, the city council is expected to take action on several items under old and new business.

Old Business

The city council will take action on the purchase of two commercial grade Scag mowers for the Water and Wastewater treatment facilities. It will take action on a Lee Arrendale State Prison fire service mutual aid agreement. The agreement will provide personnel and equipment from the prison’s fire department to assist the Baldwin Fire Department on fire calls.

The council will have the first reading for a water and sewer use ordinance.

New Business

The city council is expected to take action on a Banks Co. Road Paving Project Resolution to award the project. The paving project will be paid for using Banks County T-SPLOST funds.

The council will consider a pump replacement for the sewer collection system. Also, pump repairs will be considered at the fresh water intake on the Chattahoochee River.

The city council will consider an agreement with SERVPRO to make repairs to the community room at City Hall.

The Baldwin City Council will meet Tuesday, October 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the Baldwin Municipal Courtroom at 155 Willingham Avenue in Baldwin.
