Shooting at Northeast Georgia bar injures two

Investigation indicates domestic dispute led to gunfire

Two people were injured in a shooting at a Northeast Georgia bar Friday night, according to the Towns County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the Sand Bar on Hwy. 76 shortly after 11 pm and found two men with gunshot wounds. The sheriff’s office says an investigation revealed that one individual approached a vehicle in the parking lot with a handgun and a confrontation inside the vehicle led to the shooting.

Both individuals were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with non-life-threatening injuries. They are currently in stable condition, according to authorities.

The Towns County Sheriff’s Office says it is investigating the incident as domestic-related. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting with the case, which remains active and ongoing.
