Designed as a day camp, Camp STEMpowerment is a dynamic new camp to inspire and empower young women in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Sponsored by The Habersham County Rotary Club, in partnership with North Georgia Technical College, Habersham Professional Women, and Habersham Parks and Recreation, the camp will take place from October 7-9, 2024, at North Georgia Technical College.
This camp will be operating during the fall break of Habersham County Schools, offering a perfect opportunity for students to enrich their break with exciting STEM activities.
The objective of Camp STEMpowerment is to develop a passion for STEM through a range of engaging activities and program explorations. Participants will have the unique opportunity to tour local businesses and technical college programs, gaining firsthand insights into the entrepreneurial world and discovering potential career paths.
The camp will also feature leadership development sessions that include personality analysis, helping students to understand their strengths and develop essential leadership skills.
One of the unique aspects of Camp STEMpowerment is the mentorship provided by accomplished female community members. Discussions will be about social skills and table etiquette, offering invaluable guidance and inspiration.
“We are thrilled to bring this new collaborative initiative to our community,” said Amy Hulsey, president of the Habersham County Rotary Club. “Camp STEMpowerment is designed to provide young girls with an inspiring yet fun and exciting experience that will fuel their passion for STEM and equip them with valuable life skills. Habersham Rotary is proud to financially support this program to make it possible for our middle school girls who are excited to learn.”
The first 25 girls to register by September 23, 2024, will receive free registration and a complimentary camp t-shirt. The camp will run between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday; and 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Wednesday (Half Day). Transportation is available through Habersham County School Bus transportation for those students who need pick-up and drop-off services.
