The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office has issued a lookout for Rocky Garrett, 54, of Toccoa, after Garrett eluded law enforcement officials late Friday night and early Saturday morning.
Officials say they were alerted at approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday, August 30, by Franklin County deputies to a white Chevrolet Tracker driven by Garrett, who was allegedly involved in a domestic dispute in Franklin County.
The sheriff’s office says Garrett, wanted on an outstanding parole warrant in Stephens County, was spotted leaving his last known address. Deputies initiated a pursuit, but Garrett fled at high speed and abandoned the vehicle on North Red Rock Road.
Despite a thorough search involving the SCSO’s STING Unit, K-9 units, and Georgia State Patrol Aviation, Garrett evaded capture.
He faces felony warrants in Franklin County for aggravated battery and terroristic threats, as well as a parole violation in Stephens County for prior crimes, including aggravated assault on a peace officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
The Stephens County Sheriff’s Office urges citizens to call 911 if they observe any suspicious activity or individuals in the area. Remember also to keep your vehicles locked and homes secured.
If you’re unsure whether a situation is an emergency, call 911’s non-emergency line at (706) 779-3911.
