Former UGA swimmer Nic Fink picked up his first Olympics medal Sunday, tying Great Britain’s Adam Peaty for the silver in the men’s 100-meter breaststroke. With a time of 59.05 seconds, this is Fink’s first career Olympic medal- but not his first time ending a race with a tie.

“It’s actually the second time I’ve tied for a podium recently… so uh, for silver actually, so, it is kind of funny how it works out that way,” Fink told reporters afterward.

Another swim dawg, rising senior Luca Urlando (Ur-lon-do), is set to compete Tuesday in the men’s 200m butterfly preliminaries in his first Olympics.

In other sports like basketball, gymnastics, tennis, and soccer, UGA alumni are fighting to make the podium or qualify for the finals.

Anthony Edwards helped lead the men’s basketball team to a 110-84 victory over Serbia on Sunday. The current Minnesota Timberwolves player scored 11 points during the game. Team USA returns to the court on Wednesday at 3 p.m. to face South Sudan.

In soccer, former bulldog Croix Bethune made the U.S. women’s roster, and the team is set to play Australia on Wednesday at 1 p.m. The USWNT only needs a draw to win their group stage and advance to the knockout round.
