The Clarkesville City Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on an annexation and zoning application to build 80 housing units off Rocky Branch Road near Hwy. 17.
The property owner intends to develop 13.501 acres at 933 Rocky Branch Road for a mixed-use development golf cart community. The land sits across from Piedmont Automotive, adjacent to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.
If approved, the development would consist of 60 townhomes with two—and three-bedroom units and 20 single-family homes. Each unit would be approximately 2,100 square feet.
The developer wants to connect to the city’s water and sewer infrastructure, which would require the developer to annex the property into the city.
The planning commission will consider the annexation request and zoning application at the public hearing on Tuesday, August 13. That meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at Clarkesville City Hall.
Once the commission has heard from the developer and the public, it will recommend to the city council whether to approve the plan. The Clarkesville City Council will hold a second public hearing at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9 before voting.
Both hearings are open to the public and will be held at Clarkesville City Hall at 123 North Laurel Drive.
