Paul Efford Loudermilk, age 92, of Cornelia, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 25, 2024.
Mr. Loudermilk was born on November 10, 1931, in Habersham County, Georgia, to the late Paul and Winnie Landers Loudermilk. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Nick Loudermilk; sisters Kathleen Underwood and Pauline Carrol; brothers Quintin Loudermilk, DeWitt Loudermilk, and Kenneth Loudermilk; and son-in-law Ronald Blackburn.
Efford was devoted to his family and Cornelia Christian Church, where he had been a dedicated member since 1958 and served as a deacon for an impressive 62 years. He had retired from Schnadig as well as the Southern Craftsman’s Guild. Woodworking was his craft and passion, which was evident in the furniture he lovingly created for many members of his family. Efford loved the great outdoors, found joy in tending to his garden, and spent many happy years camping during his younger days. Above all, Efford cherished his role as, “Pop” to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He took immense pleasure in playing with them, creating memories filled with love and laughter. One of his talents, which surprised his grandchildren, was his ability to ride a bicycle backward while sitting on the handlebars, a skill he showcased well into his 80s. Efford will be remembered as a loving husband, a cherished father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, as well as a beloved brother, uncle, and friend.
Survivors include his loving wife of 73 years, Laverne Ward Loudermilk, of Cornelia; daughter, Linda Blackburn, of Cornelia; grandchildren and their spouses, Jason and Michelle Blackburn, of Alto; Bart and Carisa Blackburn, of Alto; great-grandchildren, Austin Blackburn, Madison Blackburn, Caleb Blackburn, Brooke Blackburn, all of Alto; sisters, Ovaline York, of Mt.
