White County property owners will not be hit with a county millage rate increase this year. The board of commissioners and school board both announced Wednesday they plan to approve full millage rate rollbacks.

The rollbacks should help offset some of the increase from higher appraisals.

The White County Board of Education will meet at the board office at 6 p.m. on August 8 to set the county’s education millage rate. Commissioners will follow with a morning meeting on Friday to set the county millage rate. That meeting is set for 8:30 a.m. on August 9 at the county administration building on the Helen Highway north of Cleveland.

The news comes one day after Cleveland announced it will not roll back the millage rate for city residents this year.
