A water leak at the Mauney Community Services Center in White County caused some damage to the building overnight.
The Center, which houses multiple county departments including 911, planning and building, economic development and code enforcement, sustained damage on the lower level.
White County Public Information Officer Bryce Barrett says a 911 dispatcher discovered the leak shortly after midnight Friday.
“The dispatcher promptly alerted the proper administration, who were able to locate the source of the leak,” Barrett says.
He says the leak was traced back to a water line in a utility closet on the upper level of the building. Although the leak seeped through to the lower level, Barrett says it did not cause any damage to critical infrastructure.
“The White County 911 Center, located on the lower level of the Mauney Building, remained fully operational throughout the incident,” he says.
Early Friday, Barrett said, “Immediate actions were taken to address the leak. White County Building Grounds and Maintenance is continuing to work and resolve the issue.”
