White County has announced new fees for its solid waste disposal facilities. Beginning July 1, the county implemented the new fees at the Transfer Station in the Industrial Park south of Cleveland and Convenience Center on Hulsey Road.
The new fees for the Transfer Station will be a $6.00 minimum fee with a $15 disposal fee for mattresses. At the Convenience Center, the new bag disposal fee will be $6.00 for 1-6 bags, and a dollar will be charged for each additional bag.
The county took over the entire solid waste disposal operation on January 2 of this year after contracting out the service for many years and after the contractor indicated they would be increasing their operating fee. The new fees announced are minimal, but county officials say they are needed to help fund the operations at the two facilities.
