There are no substantial new leads in the investigation of Maria Gomez-Perez, the 12-year-old missing girl from Gainesville. Maria was last seen at her Gainesville home on Wednesday, May 29, and was reported missing the following day.
On the Hall County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, Sheriff Couch gave a status update on the investigation. He expressed his gratitude for the generous donations for the reward fund for Maria’s safe return. The reward is now offered at $50,000.
Last week, the announcement of the increased reward brought many additional tips. However, none of those tips were viable leads. Investigators have followed up on solid leads in South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, Texas, Illinois, and Maryland. The leads did not bring investigators closer to finding Maria.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office is committed to bringing Maria home safely the update indicated. They are receiving assistance from local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies such as the FBI, Homeland Security, the GBI, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), and other agencies.
