Jacob “Gene” Dawkins, age 76, of Mt. Airy, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024.
Mr. Dawkins was born in Newberry, South Carolina, to the late Jacob and Adalaide Dawkins. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a Mason and served as Captain of the Forsyth County Volunteer Fire Department. He retired from Print Directions and had been employed for 31 years prior with Curtis 1000.
Survivors include his wife, Robin Dawkins, of Mt. Airy; daughters, Amanda Brown, of Cumming; Lindsey Hailey, of Mt. Airy; son, Jacob Eugene Dawkins, Jr., of Cobb County; sister, Susan (Billy) Slaton, of Mt. Airy; grandchildren, Ashlyn Seabolt, Caleb Brown, Aaron Adams, and Zoe Brown.
Gene was a dedicated family man who also raised and fostered many other children throughout his life.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2024, at the Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel. Dr. Donald Drawdy will officiate.
Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and the Grant-Reeves Honor Guard. The Forsyth County Fire and Rescue Department will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Thursday prior to the service.
