Peach State Federal Credit Union is using community outreach to fight fraud targeting seniors. The credit union held seminars at local senior centers in Summerville and Toccoa. Company officials say they plan to continue hosting these sessions across their service area.
“Criminals use various tactics to target, victimize, and financially exploit senior citizens. Often, it can be difficult to identify or speak openly about,” said Peach State Vice President of Fraud and Loss Prevention Jay Gilling. “We believe that the best way to combat fraud is to bring education directly into our communities and make resources accessible for seniors and their families.”
Peach State offers fraud prevention seminars for free. Credit union membership is not required to attend.
In addition to hosting in-person public seminars, Peach State provides helpful resources such as fraud tips on its social media channels and website.
Peach State serves more than 70,000 members in Georgia and South Carolina. It has branches across Northeast Georgia, including Carnesville, Cornelia, Jefferson, Toccoa, Winder, and Young Harris.
