Last day of early voting on Friday

Voters across the state have one more day to vote early ahead of the May 21 primary election. Friday is the last day for early voting. The South Precinct in Cornelia and the North Precinct in Clarkesville will be open Friday May 17 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for voters to cast a ballot.

Voters were still casting ballots at both precincts Thursday afternoon. As of 3:30 p.m. Thursday, 91 votes had been cast at the South Precinct during the day. The North Precinct was well over 200 votes cast as of 4:00 p.m.

Early voting began on April 29 and was quite slow for the first two weeks in Habersham County. According to Georgia’s Election Data Hub, only 3.6% or 1,080 Habersham County voters cast a ballot during those 2 weeks, which included Saturday voting opportunities.
