A Northeast Georgia man has been arrested and charged for allegedly abusing his girlfriend’s 6-year-old son. The GBI says 21-year-old Alan James Cain of Canon was taken into custody without incident.
Authorities charged Cain with aggravated assault, family violence, and cruelty to children in the first degree.
GBI Director of Public Affairs Nelly Miles says the investigation is ongoing. The agency asks anyone with information to call the Hart County Sheriff’s Office at 706-376-3114 or the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Athens at 706-552-2309.
Anonymous tips may also be made by calling 1-800-597-8477.
Miles says once the investigation is complete, the case file will be turned over to the Northern Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
