Two Northeast Georgia felons are back in trouble with the law following a multi-agency drug investigation. The GBI says Travis Sims, 49, of Gainesville, and Derrance Damon, 43, of Cleveland, were arrested on March 28.
Agents charged both men with trafficking fentanyl and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. In addition, they charged Sims with trafficking and selling cocaine and Damon with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute.
After a 3-month-long investigation, investigators executed search warrants at a home in the 4000 block of Post Road, Cleveland, and a storage unit in Gainesville. The GBI says agents seized over half a pound of suspected fentanyl, 110 grams of suspected crack cocaine, more than a half ounce of suspected powder cocaine, numerous prescription pills, and firearms.
The total street value of the seized drugs is $23,000, according to a news release from the GBI’s Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO).
ARDEO conducted the investigation with DEA Atlanta, ATF, the sheriff’s offices in White and Hall counties, the Gainesville Police Department, and the Georgia State Patrol Gainesville Post.
The GBI says the investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected.
