Motion picture money scam circulating

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has issued a Scam Alert. There are $10, $20, and $100 bills circulating which businesses are noticing have “Motion Picture Use Only” written in the right-hand corner of the bill.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office advises consumers to “take an extra look at the money you use or receive as payment.”

“Prop money” as it is called, which states it is for motion picture use, blends in well with the look of the bill.

If you have this money in your possession, please let law enforcement know. It is not necessarily a crime to possess such a bill, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, but it is if you use it for payment.

Take the time to look at your bills to make sure you are not falling for this scam.
