Indians rally to steal win at Commerce

Tallulah Falls rallied late to steal a win at Commerce in a key region contest. #4-ranked TFS used a Zaiden Cox 2-out triple in the sixth to go ahead and hang on for a 5-3 win.

The game appeared to favor the Indians from the jump with a 2-run first courtesy of an error on a batted ball by Chase Pollock. Pollock started, but staked to a 2-0 lead, he issued five walks and a hit by pitch in one inning of work. He exited with a 2-1 lead.

Andrew Skvarka was called to take the ball, and pitched very well down the stretch. He was tagged for a pair of runs in the fourth (one earned), as Commerce went ahead 3-2. It wasn’t until the sixth when TFS got something going.

A 2-out rally began with Skvarka’s bloop single. Ashton Roache doubled in courtesy runner Dylan Brooks to tie the game. The next pitch was launched by Cox to right field for a run-scoring triple and the 4-3 lead. He was stranded, but a Danny Grant sac fly in the seventh padded the lead to 5-3. Skvarka finished off Commerce with a perfect seventh frame.

Chris Waldron was 2-for-3 with a run, while Roache, Cox, and Grant all had a hit and RBI apiece. Skvarka got the win by going six innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk against seven strikeouts.

The Indians improve to 8-3 overall and 3-1 in region play.
