Bertha Mealor Green, age 83, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024.
Born on December 10, 1940, in Mt. Airy, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Amiel Cash and Bertie Greemon Cash. Mrs. Green was retired from Ethicon and was a member of Camp Creek Baptist Church, but more recently had attended The Torch. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed baking and flower gardening in her spare time.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lee Roy Mealor; second husband, Alfred William Green; grandsons, Danny Mealor and Lawton Cason; granddaughter, Chelsea Thomas; and brothers, Ray Cash and Tommy Cash.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Thomas L. Mealor (Sandy) of Mt. Airy and Doug B. Mealor (Gina) of Villa Rica, Georgia; grandchildren Dustin Mealor (Hope), Ellen Lusk, Desiree Mealor, and Goldie Sweat; great-grandchildren, Aaron Mealor, Zeke Mealor, Paiten Lusk, Bayle Mealor, Aubree Hall, and Macie Mealor; sisters, Frances Ledford of Gainesville, and Ruth Mealor of Demorest; numerous other extended relatives and friends.
The family extends special gratitude to Elsie Hogan, Juanita Frady, Janet McConnell, Vanice Mason, Lynn Head, and Stewart Cash for their kindness and care for Mrs. Green during the time of her declining health.
Funeral services are at 2 pm on Friday, February 23, 2024, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart, with Pastor Mike Franklin and Mr. Dustin Mealor officiating. Interment will follow in Camp Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the funeral home.
