Two candidates qualified to run in the upcoming special election for the Alto City Council.
Former Alto mayor P.J. Huggins and John Smith are vying for the Post 1 seat formerly held by Carolyn Cabe, who passed away in September.
The election is set for March 12, 2024.
The winner will serve out Cabe’s unexpired term, which runs through Dec. 31, 2025.
