Georgia drivers will continue to save a little at the pump thanks to a continued rollback of the state’s gas tax. Governor Brian Kemp signed an executive order suspending the state’s motor and locomotive fuel excise tax through November 29.
Kemp first lifted the tax in September to help ease the effects of inflation. He renewed the tax suspension in October.
The new order extends the State of Emergency that allows for the tax break, providing relief from high gas prices.
According to AAA, the average cost of a gallon of regular gas in Georgia is currently $2.89, 51 cents below the national average.
“I’m proud this action has helped keep millions of dollars in hardworking Georgians’ pockets and look forward to continuing to see that impact with the Thanksgiving holiday approaching,” Kemp said.
