The annual Guadalupan Torch Run from Mexico to New York is making its way through Northeast Georgia this weekend.
Several Catholic parishes in North Georgia are organizing the run’s progress through the region. The relay started at Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City on Sept. 2 and is scheduled to conclude at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in New York City on Dec. 12.
The annual Torch Run (Carrera de la Antorcha Guadalupana) is an annual pilgrimage that runs through five Mexican states and 14 American states over three months. Thousands of runners participate each year, carrying the torch and making stops along the way for prayer or masses.
Hall to White County Route
The relay is expected to enter the south end of Hall County at approximately 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4, and move into White County around 5 p.m.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office posted the following route:
𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗘 𝗜𝗡𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡
- From Gwinnett County into Hall, heading north on Ga. 13/Atlanta Highway
- Right turn on Ga. 369/Jesse Jewell Parkway
- Left turn on Downey Boulevard, merging onto South Enota Drive NE
- Right turn on Park Hill Drive/Cleveland Highway/U.S. 129
- North into White County
Motorists can expect some delays along the route during the run. Please use caution and courtesy.
The Torch Run is expected to pass through Clarkesville on Sunday, Nov. 5.
