With Election Day looming, early voter turnout has been quite dismal in Habersham County’s municipal elections.

Out of 8,463 registered municipal voters, only 215 voters had cast ballots in municipal elections through Friday at the end of early voting.  Early voting ended Friday, November 3 at 5:00 p.m.  Staff at the Habersham County Elections Office in Clarkesville stated that those wanting to cast a ballot on the last day of early voting were “pretty steady.” Twenty-eight voters cast a ballot on the last day of early voting.

After polls closed on Friday, only two cities had a voter turnout of more than 3% of registered voters casting a ballot during the early voting period. Those cities that had more than 3% voter turnout were Baldwin (4.8%) and Demorest (3.8%). Two cities had less than 1% voter turnout during early voting. Cornelia and Mt Airy both closed early voting with only 0.6% voter turnout (see the breakdown below).
