Athens-Clarke County police are investigating a weekend brawl downtown that resulted in two people getting shot.
Around 2 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, police were near the 100 block of West Clayton Street when they heard multiple gunshots. Officers arrived at the West Clayton and Hull Street intersection to find a large brawl in the roadway.
After dispersing the group, police found two gunshot victims with wounds to their torsos. EMS transported them to a local hospital with serious injuries. Both are expected to survive, police say.
This is an active and ongoing investigation. The Athens-Clarke County Police Department asks anyone with information about the incident or who recorded the incident on their cell phone to contact investigators.
