DEMOREST, Ga. – The Piedmont women’s soccer team battled Bob Jones to a scoreless draw on a cool Monday evening at the Walker Athletic Complex.

In the team’s final tune-up before the Collegiate Conference of the South Tournament, the Lions and Bruins played an evenly matched contest, with neither side able to break through for the decisive goal.

The first half was closely contested, with Piedmont holding possession for the first portion while the Bruins slowly gained control of the run of play in the final minutes of the half. Overall, the shot count was even at 5-5 in the first half with the Bruins holding a 3-0 edge in shots on goal. However, Piedmont goalkeeper Maggie Leger was on the spot, making three saves to keep the score knotted at 0-0.

The second half saw more of the same, as both goalkeepers came up in the clutch when needed.

Leger made a pair of saves in the final 45 minutes, while Bob Jones keeper Margaret Cummings made a critical save as Piedmont’s Lily Wilds was denied in front of the net.

Overall, the Lions held a 10-9 shot advantage, with the sides even 5-5 in attempts on target.

Up next, the Lions will host LaGrange in the CCS Tournament Quarterfinals this Saturday, October 28. Piedmont will be looking to repeat as champions after taking the title last season.
