White County Family Connection is gearing up for the 2023 White Christmas program. White Christmas provides assistance with Christmas gifts for the children of income-eligible families.
To be eligible, families must live in White County and the children must be under 18 years of age unless they have not graduated and are still enrolled in school. Families can meet the income eligibility guidelines in the following ways:
- The children are enrolled in school and receive free or reduced lunch;
- The children receive Medicaid;
- The family receives SNAP (food stamp) or TANF benefits.
Except for eligibility through free or reduced lunch, parents will have to bring proof of eligibility guidelines when they attend one of the sign-up sessions. Proof of residency is also required.
Sign-up sessions for the White Christmas program will be held at the Yonah Masonic Lodge located at 59 White Street in Cleveland (next to the MedLink Family Health Center) at the following times:
- Tuesday, Oct. 24, 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
- Thursday, Oct. 26, – 3-6 p.m.
- Tuesday, Oct. 31, 8 a.m.-12 p.m.
- Thursday, Nov. 2, 3-6 p.m.
- Saturday, Nov. 4, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on
These will be the only opportunities for families to apply for the program. Only a legal custodian/guardian may complete the application. The parent or guardian completing the application must be the primary custodian.
Once the sign-up sessions are completed, Family Connection will begin recruiting sponsors to adopt families and shop for gifts for the children.
