The Piedmont men’s soccer team dominated Toccoa Falls on senior night as seniors Brady Puckett and Ricardo Ruiz scored. With the eight goals against Toccoa Falls, Piedmont has now scored 16 goals over the past two games.
Jason Aussin began the rout in the 23rd minute with an absolute banger into the top right corner after being denied of one just minutes earlier.
The Lions were not finished scoring in the half, with Colin Vogel putting away the second goal. Delroy Mattis struck the side post in the 37th minute before the round kicked directly back out to Vogel, who finished the opportunity just beyond the spot.
Taking a 2-0 lead to the half, Piedmont dominated the shot category in the first half 19-5.
The Lions picked up right where they left off to start the second, scoring just 34 seconds into the half. Freshman Andre Grant converted the opportunity with the assist coming from Danny Castro as Grant capped his first career collegiate goal. The magical night continued as the first of the two seniors found the back of the net in the 61st minute as Ruiz made it 5-0.
With just under 11 minutes remaining, the celebration continued as Puckett put in his senior night goal, besting the keeper to the far post. Piedmont scored once more and conceded a goal before the contest closed 8-1.
Up next, Piedmont travels to play Maryville in a big CCS matchup on Saturday, October 14, with kickoff set for 2 p.m.
