“We had a blast!”

That’s how Habersham County Animal Care and Control Director Madi Nix described the experience for animal shelter staff and volunteers Saturday. They hosted a Playgroup Rockstars Adoption Event – one of 39 held across the U.S.

During the three-and-a-half-hour event on October 7, nine pets found their forever homes.

The shelter adopted out two puppies, two large dogs, and one kitty.

“Four more adoptions are pending,” says Nix.

The adoption event was sponsored by pet-friendly nonprofits Petco Love, Dogs Playing for Life, and BOBS from Skechers.

This uniquely designed event allows prospective pet owners to meet the dogs in a playgroup setting to see how they interact with other dogs and humans. It’s a great opportunity to let the pets’ personalities shine.

Habersham County was one of only three locations in Georgia that held Playgroup Rockstars Adoption Events on Saturday. The others were in Columbus and Gainesville.
